Mama’s melts

When designing the melts I wanted something unique, natural and beneficial; With the beeswax as the main ingredient it was crucial I sourced it correctly and didn’t just settle for the cheapest and quickest to arrive. The beeswax is classed as Grade A which is the highest quality available, no chemicals, no nasties, practically straight from the hive. The beeswax is either sourced from beehives in the UK or if at the time, that is not possible, it’s supplied by trusted beekeepers in Hungary. The real dream goal of course is to eventually learn the skills of beekeeping and own my own hives and produce my own honey and beeswax. One thing is for sure, the wax used in the melts is stunning and on the day it arrived I knew I’d found the right kind, after what seemed like months of trialing different types. By itself, the beeswax is a glorious rich caramel colour and it’s scent is that of honey, flowers and woodland. Working with such a natural, raw product has been a fun experience and I feel like I’ve learnt so much.

When it came to experimenting with the essential oils for the blends I felt that I already had a bit of a head start; 5 years working within LUSH Cosmetics has trained my senses to be able to detect what essential oils work well with one another. Needless to say I still spent countless nights wafting numerous bottles of oils under my nose, testing and trialing different combinations to enable me to put together the perfect blend. Scent aside, all of the essential oils used in my blends are cruelty free and ethically and sustainably sourced. My aim was to try and create a completely natural wax melt for any time of the day; whether it’s “The Morning Brew” for a slow Sunday morning wake up call or “Hive Sweet Hive” for a calming warming scent before bedtime. The 5 signature blends available and any limited editions have honestly been such joy to create and I really do hope people love them as much as I do.
