The Deity Collection

The Deity collection was born from my ongoing journey into The Craft; I wanted to find a way to symbolise and honour some of the most powerful and admired goddesses there are, whilst also harnessing and celebrating the skills of some wonderfully talented women in my life…

The Crystals

The crystals used for the Deity collection have been sourced from a seller who only deal with mines, providers and suppliers that have a strong ethical policy in place; who avoid the use of child labour, operate a fair trade policy and are against testing any products on animals. The seller also ensures that all products they source come from sustainable suppliers.

The crystals themselves are hand wrapped by myself using a copper based wire, chosen for its energy enhancing properties. The crystals are left to charge either under a full moon or new moon and are then individually chosen for the customer (based on what Deity they’ve ordered) by me. I often take a few quiet moments to sit and see which one I’m drawn to most before then going ahead to cleanse it with sage smoke and make it into a necklace using hemp cord.

The Herbal Blends

Stepping into the world of herbary I thought would be a daunting prospect; yes I grow a few types of herbs within the cottage garden and have an understanding of their benefits, but blending them to create a scent and carry certain properties was nothing like working with essential oils and was a different matter entirely. With a little guidance from friends, lots of late nights of research and a little trial and error (well a lot) each Deity now has a wonderful herbal offering to reflect her magic. These blends are primarily for aromatherapy purposes and energy work only though and are NOT to be ingested.

The Cotton Bags

I called upon the fabulous Genna from The Little Eco Sewing Shop to create the little drawstring cotton bags; Genna has always been so conscious of the impact that the fashion industry has on the world and her business ethics really do reflect her passion for sustainability. Everything she makes is always from recycled material, often found in her local charity shops.

The bags she made for the Deities are from 100% recycled cotton and as we are both avid hedgerow foragers, we decided to dye the fabric naturally with the juice from hand picked blackberries. The idea is to work with what offerings nature brings us throughout the year and to work with the changing seasons. So with that said, the colour of the fabric may differ as the months pass.

THe Illustrations

The stunning artwork is that of Hannah’s from Where The Wild Wolf Lives; I met this kindred spirit through Instagram and our love/obsession with all things Middle Earth related. Hannah is the most magical person, with a real twinkle in her eye and a passion for all things mythical. She has done the most amazing job with the illustrations, capturing and symbolising each Deity so perfectly.

The Wording

The wording on the back of each card is from the mind of my very good friend and fellow Aquarian Jo from Under The Rowan Tree; her extensive knowledge and understanding on such things as Herbology is limitless and her way with the written word meant that I simply had to get her on board with these magical offerings. She’s a wonderful healer and has taught me so much about myself as I walk my destined path of witchcraft.

The Cards

So the cards themselves were printed by Kitti from A La KArt Creations; another earth loving, ethical soul who’s passion for the natural world enticed me in to firstly ask her to print my business cards and then later the cards for the Deities. What makes these cards (and my business ones) so unique is that each one is embedded with UK native meadow flower seeds. Printed in vegan ink and on paper that has been milled in the UK, these cards are completely plantable and give back to the planet’s pollinators. Some customers have already said that the cards are just too beautiful to plant into the ground and are opting to frame them instead, but the option to grow gorgeous colourful flowers is always there.
